Hoja Alouddin Attor

Islamic religious leader, spiritual leader of the Sufi tariqa Hajagan-Naqshbandi. Sheikh, seventeenth in the golden chain of succession of tariqah sheikhs. Murid and successor to Bahauddin Naqshband.

His real name was Alauddin Muhammad bin Muhammad al-Bukhari al-Attar. The dynasty was nicknamed “Attor” because his father was a perfumer. Exact information about the childhood and adolescence of Hoja Alouddin, a student of Bahauddin Naqshbandi, has not reached us. After Alouddin Attar mastered the external sciences, he began to study the secrets of spiritual education – upbringing and the inner world in the presence of Hoja Naqshband. As Attar moved to Chaghaniyan, he founded a large school of Sufism here. He died on the twentieth day of the month of Rajab in 802 AH (1400 CE). He was buried at the outskirts of Denau city. Next to northern side of the tomb, a smaller mosque was built by the population during the years of independence.
